Additional reading: The United States is negotiating with “A NEW, AND MORE REASONABLE, REGIME” in Iran, President Donald Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Monday, but is also prepared to move forward with attacks “blowing up and completely obliterating” the Islamic Republic’s oil infrastructure if a deal is not reached. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said during a subsequent ABC News appearance that “we also have to be prepared for the possibility, maybe even the probability,” that Iran will reject a deal. Iranian oil infrastructure isn’t the only potential target: Trump “is weighing a military operation to extract nearly 1,000 pounds of uranium from Iran,” a mission that would likely require an “elite special operations team specially trained to remove radioactive material from a conflict zone,” the Wall Street Journal reported. Hundreds of Special Operations Forces recently arrived in the Middle East. At a traditional Passover Seder, the youngest capable child in attendance is...

The office, which Mamdani established by executive order, is designed to deploy social workers and other non-police responders to handle mental health crises and hate crimes—functions traditionally managed by law enforcement. The spending comes as Mamdani’s proposed $127 billion budget has triggered warnings from credit rating agencies about the city’s long-term financial health. The may...

(Abdul El-Sayed) Left-wing Democratic Senate hopeful Abdul El-Sayed presumably spent all day Monday huddling with his intrepid campaign advisers and emerged with a statement alleging the Washington Free Beacon “may have been illegally and unethically obtained” the audio recording we published earlier in the day of a campaign strategy call during which El-Sayed said he wanted to avoid commenting on Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s death because many of Michigan’s Muslim voters were “sad” about it. Even El-Sayed’s lawyers at the Sandler Reiff law firm, who contacted us over the weekend to try and stop the publication of the report by our Alana Goodman, weren’t stupid or brazen enough to make that claim. The governing law protects journalists who were not themselves a party to any illegal acquisition, and it’s far from clear there was any illegal conduct in this case. Michigan is a one-party consent state. The Free Beacon, of course, can’t comment on its sources. But El-Sayed isn’t one to let fa...
WASHINGTON FREE BEACON: --------------------------- Elsewhere: Thousands of American soldiers and Marines are arriving in the Middle East as the Pentagon preps for “weeks of ground operations in Iran,” the Washington Post reported, citing U.S. officials. Rather than a full-scale invasion, the operations would include Special Operations raids on key Iranian sites like Kharg Island. It’s unclear whether President Trump will give the green light. Remember Fang Fang, the suspected Chinese spy who helped Rep. Eric Swalwell (D., Calif.) with campaign fundraising? FBI director Kash Patel is reportedly pushing for the release of files related to the investigation into Swalwell’s relationship with the intrepid, uh, money honey. Russian satellites took images of a U.S. air base in Saudi Arabia in the days before an Iranian attack on the base, which wounded a number of U.S. service members, according to NBC News. L: Abdul El-Sayed (cropped, Bill Pugliano/Getty Images) R: Ali Khamenei (Majid Saeedi/Getty Images) Left-wing Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed told staffers he wanted to avoid taking a public position on the assassination of Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei because “there are a lot of people in Dearborn who are sad,” audio from a private campaign strategy meeting obtained by the Free Beacon shows. The comments from El-Sayed—a serious contender for the Democratic nomination in Michigan’s toss-up 2026 Senate race—came during a conference call with his campaign’s communications team on March 1, a day after an Israeli airstrike killed Khamenei. If reporters pressed him to take a position on the matter, El-Sayed said, he would change the subject to Donald Trump’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. “I’m just gonna go straight to pedophilia, frankly,” El-Sayed said. “I’ll just be like, ‘Pedophile president decides that he doesn’t like the front page news, so he decides to take us ...

President Trump celebrated a historic America First immigration victory as the United States recorded net negative migration across every metropolitan area for the first time in at least 50 years, with illegal border crossings dropping to their lowest levels since the 1970s. He issued a presidential memorandum directing the Department of Homeland Security to provide back pay and benefits to thousands of frontline TSA officers impacted by the ongoing shutdown, calling it an emergency situation compromising national security. The President also swore in Secretary Markwayne Mullin as the ninth Secretary of Homeland Security to advance border security, remove criminal illegal aliens, and combat cartels and terrorism. Additionally, he proclaimed National Agriculture Day 2026, honoring America’s farmers and ranchers while highlighting landmark investments, over $40 billion in assistance, and efforts to cut regulations and open new markets. By 2021, indeed, more women of childbearing age in India were measured as overweight than underweight. “For its part, the marked rise in worldwide caloric availability per capita has been facilitated by dramatic long-term declines in the cost of food. “On case after case—most notably, in its 2022 ruling overturning Roe v. Wade—the Court has turned Scalia dissents into majority rulings. More broadly, it has adopted his principle of interpreting constitutional provisions according to the meaning they bore when they were enacted, and it has even more consistently abided by his twin textualist tenet for interpreting statutes. “Amid such success, it’s easy to forget how distressing Scalia’s own years as a justice were. Among its many virtues, James Rosen’s excellent second volume of his monumental three-part biography of Scalia ought to remind the reader of how far the Court has come.” “When Reagan elevated William H. Rehnquist to succeed Burger as chief justice, he appointed Scalia, 50 years young, to the associate justice position that Rehnquist had occupied. Scalia was aghast to discover the moribund intellectual culture of the Court. The justices were set in their ways: They asked very few questions at oral argument, they didn’t ta...
March 21 - 22, 2026 What a touching standing ovation Amy Madigan received when she won the best supporting actress award at last week’s Oscars while husband Ed Harris beamed with pride. Some folks on social media, however, were quick to point out that when director Elia Kazan received a lifetime achievement Oscar in 1999, both Madigan and Harris refused to stand. Kazan, a fierce anticommunist, had named names, which many in Hollywood found unforgivable. Of course many on the blacklist were, in fact, Communists, while others were, shall we say, amenable to change. Such details seem to be overlooked in the “Blacklisted: An American Story“ exhibit at the Capital Jewish Museum. Ronald Radosh lays it all out in his review. https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!7m2n!,w_1100,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F098d1a9c-35e5-49f2-8200-6e5d71a24f25_609x491.jpeg A section called ‘Unfriendly Witness’ ... turn...
IT’S FRIDAY, MARCH 27, 2026 In case you don’t think America is great, watch this video from MLB opening day at Oracle Park in San Francisco. The national anthem, a preposterously cool “smoke flag,” fireworks, and a flyover in one of America’s most liberal cities. We’re doing OK. If you’re still not convinced, ask yourself the following question: Is there any other country on Earth where a quadruple amputee could inspire the masses by overcoming adversity to become a professional cornhole athlete and then be credibly accused of shooting a passenger in the car he was driving? Hell no. Oscar Pistorius is a chump compared with this guy. And if you’re still on the fence, just think of all the money that Nancy Pelosi and others are making by betting on the war in Iran. If that doesn’t make you proud to be an American on the eve of our 250th birthday celebration, I don’t know what will. https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!__q0!,w_1100,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/ht...

WASHINGTON FREE BEACON; ........................... Additional reading: Virginia governor Abigail Spanberger campaigned last year as a “moderate” who had “no plans” to gerrymander her state’s congressional districts. She released an ad on Wednesday urging voters to approve a ballot measure that would do just that. “I’m voting yes on Virginia’s redistricting amendment,” Spanberger said. “At this extraordinary moment, I urge all Virginians to join me.” Iran has rejected President Donald Trump’s 15-point peace plan to end the U.S.-Israeli military campaign against the Islamic Republic, according to unnamed regime officials who spoke to state media. “Iran will end the war when it decides to do so and when its own conditions are met,” one of the officials said. We’ll see what Donald Trump thinks of that. It may have taken 12 years, but San Francisco school officials finally voted to restore eighth-grade algebra, a class they axed in 2014, arguing that the move would give minority st...

Sherrill, sporting a head covering, visited the Islamic Center of Passaic County for Ramadan services, photos posted to social media show. She met with Imam Mohammad Qatanani and described the mosque as a “community with the five pillars of Islam that is constantly looking to do good works.” But Qatanani has espoused violent anti-Israel views. He said at a Times Square rally in 2017, “No peace process and negotiation without liberation in Palestine. We have to start a new intifada. Elsewhere: Donald Trump delivered an ultimatum to Iran on Saturday: Open the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours or the United States will “obliterate” Iranian power plants, “STARTING WITH THE BIGGEST ONE FIRST.” Trump’s threat followed an Iranian missile that targeted the U.S.-U.K. Diego Garcia military base located 2,500 miles away from Tehran—a distance Iran’s leaders swore they could not reach before Trump launched Operation Epic Fury. The attack, though unsuccessful, “was Iran’s first-ever use of intermediate-range ballistic missiles, ones that fly far enough to hit much of Europe,” the Wall Street Journal reported. “The Trump administration had cited Iran’s work on missiles that could one day carry nuclear weapons to the U.S. among its reasons for going to war.” The Trump administration is building hundreds of miles of fresh border wall, and the Washington Post is concerned that the construction could “threaten endangered species” and “cut off access to sacred Indigenous and arch...

The settlement stipulates that student groups cannot include “prohibitions on speakers” in their bylaws, including those with a Zionist viewpoint. Shortly after the settlement announcement, however, law school dean Erwin Chemerinsky told students in an email obtained by the Free Beacon that while bylaws must change, student groups can nonetheless maintain restrictions on speakers. “Simply put,” Chemerinsky wrote, “student organizations may continue to have the same policies t...

What a touching standing ovation Amy Madigan received when she won the best supporting actress award at last week’s Oscars while husband Ed Harris beamed with pride. Ronald Radosh lays it all out in his review. https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!7m2n!,w_1100,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F098d1a9c-35e5-49f2-8200-6e5d71a24f25_609x491.jpeg “A section called ‘Unfriendly Witness’ ... turns to the plight of t...

Paul Ehrlich (Kevin John Berry/Fairfax Media via Getty Images). Dr. Paul Ralph Ehrlich (1932-2026), who passed away last week at the age of 93, was perhaps the world’s most famous opinionator on the population question since Reverend T.R. Malthus himself. An unabashed apostle of population control and prophet of impending worldwide demographic catastrophe, he preached a secular gospel of “overpopulation” and eco-apocalypse from his perch at Stanford University for over 50 years. Apart from his wife and lifelong coauthor Anne Ehrlich (with whom he published nearly a dozen books or pamphlets and many hundreds of articles), perhaps no other voice or personality is so closely associated with the postwar moral panic over the “population explosion.” The Population Bomb, Ehrlich’s electrifying 1968 bestseller, made him an instant celebrity at age 36. Charismatic, self-confident, and funny—seemingly possessed of more zingers than Henny Youngman—he quickly became a television presence as well...
(Alex Wong/Getty Images) The world’s attention is fixed on the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s determination to cripple the global economy, and Donald Trump’s attempts to break the energy blockade. But, as Japanese prime minister Sanae Takaichi’s White House visit this week demonstrates, the wheel of history continues its relentless turn in other strategically vital parts of the world too. Xi Jinping is still determined to overthrow the U.S.-led international order, and he is watching closely for disruptions in our alliance system. Trump needs to not only defeat Iran, but also to steer this international order through the crisis. Trump’s decision to maximize tactical surprise certainly contributed to the bombing campaign’s amazing success. The opening decapitation strikes stunned the regime, which struggled to respond as the allies bombed its air defense and long-range missile launchers. American deaths are tragic, but, thankfully, they are much rarer than many expected from a battle of thi...
