MacFarlane announced the move on Monday, just days after he abruptly quit CBS. He was reportedly “disillusioned with the overall direction of the network” under new controlling shareholder David Ellison and editor in chief Bari Weiss, who have committed to providing more objective news coverage. MeidasTouch, he said, will allow him to engage in more “independent” and “unfiltered” reporting. Uh huh. If by “independent” MacFarlane meant “left-wing clickbait,” MeidasTouch is a great fit. It spent more than $4 million in 2020 on door-to-door canvassing and television ads to stop Trump’s reelection, including an ad accusing Trump of “mass murder” for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic. As MeidasTouch beefed up its media operations, it changed its name to Democracy Defense Action, which remains active and spent nearly $300,000 in 2025. MeidasTouch’s online news coverage is also unabashedly left wing. It’s known for dramatic headlines like “Trump’s HEALTH CRASHES in WAR as 25th AMENDMENT DEMANDED“ and “Trump HIT BY KARMA in WAR as TABLES ARE TURNED!!!“ “Scott MacFarlane Reports” will be a daily show, and McFarlane said he and MeidasTouch “have long shared this same philosophy: You don’t platform lies, you don’t platform conspiracy theories, and you don’t allow for the whitewashing of history.” Good luck to him!
