DEMOCRATS NEVER LIE

Gavin Newsom is already running for president, touring early primary states while plugging his new memoir. Newsom, a rich white guy from a privileged background whose entire career was bankrolled by a billionaire, has been playing up his alleged dyslexia. He talks about how overcoming a disability and struggling with academics has helped him relate to marginalized communities. “I’m like you,” he told Andre Dickens, the black mayor of Atlanta. “I’m a 960 SAT guy.”

Some of Newsom’s critics, of which there are many, noticed that the governor’s description in his book of being diagnosed as “learning disabled” is at odds with previous accounts in which Newsom claimed he was “diagnosed with dyslexia.” Not a huge discrepancy, but when award-winning journalist Susan Crabtree reached out asking for clarification, Newsom’s communications director told her to “fuck off.” Neera Tanden, a former adviser to Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden, praised the contemptuous response to “wingnut trolls.” Politico wrote a dismissive piece about “truther culture.”

If you didn’t already suspect that Newsom was lying, this is a glaring red flag. It’s how Democrats and their hired guns (and supportive journalists) always respond when they’ve been caught lying. Many of them urged the Washington Free Beacon to f— off after we reported on the bizarre lack of evidence that Kamala Harris actually worked at McDonald’s. Wes Moore’s communications director slammed the Free Beacon‘s “weird” “obsession” with pointing out that many of Moore’s claims do not hold up to basic scrutiny. Most reporters weren’t interested in looking into Joe Biden’s cognitive decline, but the ones who did were dismissed as MAGA trolls and threatened with physical violence—by Biden himself.

Conclusion: Just because a Democrat says it doesn’t mean it’s true.

WEATHER, OR NOT

More than four Winter Olympics have passed since the New York Times published a op-ed contemplating “the end of snow” and other catastrophes brought on by climate change. This week the Times provided an update of sorts: “Record Snowfall Slams New England and Leaves New York City Snarled.” What’s to blame for snow’s unlikely comeback? Climate change, obviously. That’s what so great about being a doomsaying climate scold— being wrong is just further evidence that you were right all along.
